Bento Fun #263 – Cheeky Monkey Bento

Hello my bento friends!

The last two days have been a little chaotic here with the kids turning the house upside down! *o* Darrius has been very naughty when his daddy is not around. The little sister follow suit just like the phrase… “Monkey see, Monkey do!” I screamed until my throat has gone sore… *sigh* And now I am keeping a blind eye on what they are going to do or are doing! (-.-)

I was rushing my little project yesterday so did not do any elaborate bento for Darrius. Just packed him some fruits and a cereal bar as well as a packet of M&Ms. He was more than happy due to the little treats he got! πŸ˜›

Nothing really comes into mind this morning until I was staring at the items that I have brought out from the freezer and the thought of making a little monkey came along since I have 2 little monkeys at home… Only 1 monkey for bento since Darrius often complains that he has too much things in his box! (the thing is, he ate too slow la….)

.

.

Made the monkey using 2 chunky cocktails just like what I did earlier for the bear. A small section of corn on cob from our dinner last night, a forest berries muesli bar which hubby brought back from Melbourne and some Korean strawberries, edamame and blueberries skewers.

Yesterday I made a trip to Queensbay Mall because Darrius wanted to eat Subway so I took the opportunity to pop by Daiso. They have yet to display all their new stock up so I did not get to buy what I have intended to get from there instead I was surprised to see that they have finally stocked up on their bento items! πŸ˜€

.

.

.

Penang’s bento fancees have every reason to cheer now with the new stocks available. Don’t have to go all the way to KL or Singapore!! πŸ˜† I am going to pop by again tomorrow to see if my stuff are up…

Happy shopping and happy bento-ing! πŸ˜€

Bento Fun #262 – Cuddly Bear Bento

The weather is still pretty erraticΒ the past few days. We got lots of rain during the night but during the day the sun shined so brightly that it can burns the skin! Last night the wind was so strong that I thought it has blew off our roof! Darrius was so scared that he can’t sleep as the wind was howling and we can see lightnings every few minutes putting ‘lights’ in our dark room. I even came down once to check the roof… glad it was still there! πŸ˜› And now it is raining again. loving the cool feeling though… πŸ˜€

Yesterday I went to Daiso to check out some stuff as I found out from the staff last week that some new stock are coming in. However, when I arrived, they were still in boxes and they told me they can only finish displaying them after lunch. Will try my luck later… but I managed to get 2 boxes of the biggest Korean strawberries at the Jusco supermarket! They were so sweet and juicy that even my baby loves them so much! πŸ˜€

Today’s bento was partly inspired by Kaerenmama’s Rilakkuma bento which she did recently using the chunky chicken cocktails…

.

.

There is a chocolate swirl mantou with the chunky chicken cocktail bear with details using cheese and nori, gigantic Korean strawberries, blueberries skewers, some pearl cherry tomatoes and a few orange wedges.

I have also been busy starting a new hobby the past few days and it gets really exciting now. Will blog about that very soon so stay tuned yah! πŸ˜€

At the mean time, wishing everyone a great day ahead!

Bento Fun #261 – Ice-Cream Dream Bento

Good afternoon all!

Another week starts again. This week I am going to be really tired coz hubby went on his business trip again to Hanoi and Jakarta yesterday for a whole week. That means, I’ll have to juggle housework and caring for the kids all by myself for a whole week! -_- Β Guess I’ll just have to endure all the cries and non stop chatters from the kids…

I bought some butter rolls and got this idea to make an ice-cream bento with the ice-cream cone for Darrius…

.

.

I only need to slot the butter roll into the cone and leave ΒΎΒ of it out to make it like ice-cream and topped it off with a pearl cherry tomato. Added the cheese eyes for cutesy effect… πŸ˜›

Other goodies in the basket are some juicy and gigantic cherry tomatoes as well as some blueberries, pearl cherry tomatoes, orange and Mandarin orange wedges.

In order to keep the ice-cream cone from getting soft, I wrapped it in a plastic and sealed it with a wire before covering the basket with the lid…

.

.

This ice-cream bento was inspired by the You Tube video that Darrius loves to watch…

.

.

He adores songs or books about the days and months on the calendar. He can spell all the days of the week as well as all the months in the year.

Here are some of his scribbles…

.

.

.

.

That’s all for today… have fun bento-ing! πŸ˜€

Bento Fun #260 – Kitties Bento

Looks like the weather here is changing! It has been drizzling since late last nite till now with intermittent stops in between. I just love the cooling weather but hope there won’t be any freak storms else parts of the island will be flooded!

With hubby away last night, it was a little chaotic but I managed to keep everything under control. Thanks to all bento sisters for their comforting words! πŸ˜€

My MIL ate the balance of my white bread yesterday so I am left with a few slices of the raisin bread so can’t think of any theme for this morning bento until I brought out some meat patties to be defrosted in the microwave. Thought the shape of the meat patties are suitable to make some kitty-cats! Partly inspired byΒ Yuli’s kitty bento too… and since I’ve not done any kitty bento before… here it is!

.

.

Included a small cheese with raisin bread sammy at the back with the two kitties in front almost filling out the box. The ears are cut out from the raisin bread’s crust and attached with spaghetti strips. The muzzles are cheddar cheese with nori. The small fishes were a last minute decision which are cut out from the bread crust too. I woke up a little late but was lucky can complete the box within 30 minutes. Phew~

There are some Korean strawberries and pearl cherry tomatoes in the box and I can’t fit other things in since the box is quite small.

So happy that it is almost the end of the week and hubby will be back tomorrow but he is leaving again on Sunday… for another week! πŸ˜›

Anyway, wishing everyone a great weekend and happy bentoing! πŸ˜€

Bento Fun #259 – Chip the Chipmunk Bento

G’day all!

I woke up very early again this morning because our room’s aircon’s remote don’t seems to be able to sense the change in temperature so the compressor was working all the time, making our room freezing cold! *o* I have to wake up to increase the temperature by a degree and made sure the remote was not hidden so it can be sensed. It was drizzling the entire night which added to the low temperature… I guessed.

Yesterday I finally received my orders from Bento Craft which I have order about 2 months back! *blushed* And I am using one of it which was supposed to be another character that I have ordered wrongly earlier and Bento Craft was so nice to make a change for me. πŸ˜€

Initially I told Darrius I’ll make him a Chip & Dale bento as he was around when the courier guy came. Then he told me he don’t like Dale. -_- This Boy! So I have to make do by making just Chip!

.

.

I already have the Chip & Dale cutters bought like 3 years ago! However, I’ve not used any of them. πŸ˜› Then they come out with the cutter + puncher sets so no choice, gotta buy the set too! For the purpose of making this bento, I went to get a loaf of Wheatmeal Raisin bread yesterday. I used the bread crust as the color is the right tone for making the chipmunk.

Chip is a triple deck sammy with cheese in between and on the surface. I imprint the facial details before cutting it out the cheese with a sharp pointed knife. Then punched out the nori. The cutouts from the puncher is a little different from the lines available on the cutter’s imprint so have to use own judgement to stick them on the appropriate places!

In the box are 2 acorns made of chicken cocktail and hotdog. Acorns are chipmunk’s favorite food. With the balance hotdog, I made a sun. There are some Korean strawberries, yellow cherry tomato (behind the sun), a portion of corn on cob and some pearl cherry tomatoes.

Hubby left for his 1st business trip this morning and I so dreaded tonight when I have to tuck the kids to bed… It gets very chaotic especially bed time… *sigh*

Anyway, wishing all of you a good day ahead and it is TGIF tomorrow! yeah! πŸ˜€
