Today is the leap day in the leap year which only happens once every four year. Some are happy as they have an extra day but some are sad as they have to work for free today. Well, it all depends on how you look at things… To me, it is the same… I still have to wake up early to prepare breakfast and get my boy ready for school and still have to clean up the mess created by the kids…
I have not been posting for quite a while as life have been extremely hectic in the morning the past weeks. I still pack bento for Darrius but was too lazy to snap any photos since I did not ‘dress up’ his bento. 😛
Bought a packet of English muffins last night while wanting to get a loaf of bread. I love English muffins as it has this chewy texture. I used to buy the English Muffins from McD breakfast menu and since I can easily get them from the bakery now, I’ll just make them myself… more economical too! 😀
I only added a plum which I halves it. Darrius has not been finishing his bento if I pack more so I told him to eat half of the muffin and plum for each break. It seems there is a classmate who has been telling him he can’t eat anything else except fruits or chips during the 1st recess. Weird! I went to ask his teacher and the teacher told me some of the kids were ‘trained’ previously in their prep years that everyone can only have light snack and no sandwiches during 1st break…
Anyway, hope all of you enjoy your extra day of the year!
So fast it is already Thursday! Can’t wait for the weekend to come by… though we are not doing anything in particular but it is good to know that we don’t have to rush for school. Don’t you agree? 😀
This morning I fed Darrius a heavy breakfast so I only make him a regular bento which I hope he can finish! It seems that he preferred to play more than eating and come complaining when he reached him that he’s hungry! So, I told his class teacher yesterday that to make sure he finished up his food before letting him out of the classroom.
I found a packet of seaweed among my stash of stuff and so…
A kyaraben at last!
Bought a loaf of soy and linseed bread yesterday and surprisingly it is so soft! Therefore, an idea struck me to make him sausage rolls with the bread. All I did was just squeezed some mayo and put the sausage and roll it up and cut into 3 sections. With the puncher and seaweed… we have 3 little cute boys! They looked as if they are putting on hoods… don’t they??? 🙂
Beside the sausage rolls, I added some nectarine cubes and blueberries for Vit C. There is another sausage heart and a cherry tomato too. I hope he can finish everything today!
Today is an important day for me as I have to resist for my computerized driving test as well as the Hazard Perception test before I can go ahead and get my practical driving test done next month. Have to do all these because I can’t get my Western Australia and Malaysian driver licence converted. *sigh* However, I’m glad I managed to get through both tests! 😀
Since I was a little excited about the tests this morning, hence I woke up earlier than normal. Made breakfast (have been making breakfast since we moved here since hubby can’t just walk to the hawker/foodcourt to pack food!) for everyone so everyone will be filled up! 😆
Bought some sandwich thins from Coles yesterday so thought I should make something with them!
Pan fried some bacons so I kept a small portion for Darrius’s bento which I decided to fry an egg to make the sandwich. Darrius loves eggs of late so he was very happy when he saw his bento this morning. 😛 Included in the bento are a few wedges of white nectarine, a cherry tomato and some blackberries. Gave him an Uncle Toby’s yogurt top cereal bar (not in photo) as well and told him that he can have the sandwich for both breaks if he wanted to.
Happy Valentine’s everyone!
It is not a tradition for my family to celebrate this day so I’ll just do it for fun. 😀 So, are you doing anything special with your other half or with your family and friends? Today, my hubby has to attend a course and won’t be home till dinner so I’m home with the girl only since Darrius is away in school. Probably will bring the girl for shopping later… if I’m up to it! 😛
Today, I prepared rice for both the men in the house since they have to go ‘studying’! 😆
Cooked some pan-grilled chicken and some meatballs to go with the rice. There are some Romanian cherry tomatoes halves which I tried to make it look like a heart… Gave him a LCM bar and a nectarine for morning break which he requested. Don’t want to give him too many items else he will sure can’t finish since he wants to play during his breaks.
As for the hubby, this is the first time he brings a bento with him! (he is just too shy!!!) Told him long time ago that he’ll have to get used to bringing bento when we live here! Hahhaa
Hubby requested lots of meat coz he said that will fill him up better. I gave him a big container of rice (not in the photo) too so that can fill him up till dinner time since he did not take any brekky before he left the house. Packed him a few pieces of nectarines for his breaks too just in case he gets hungry (he’s a big eater!).
That’s all for today and I hope you’ll have a happy celebration! 😀
Hello, and it is Monday again! Hope all of you had a great weekend!
We had a very hectic weekend as we are trying to find the Chinese tuition for Darrius. There are so many locations so we have to check which is the most convenient as well as the best fit for him. After running around for 2 days, we can say we found the right one for him. We also managed to assess the syllabus and decided that Darrius can proceed to the Year 2 class instead of Year 1 since his knowledge is quite solid thanks to his Mandarin teacher back in his kindy.
Okie, back to bento.
Darrius requested for pasta again since it is easy for him to eat from the thermal jar so, pasta it is! Today I cooked the dinosaur pasta instead of the elbow ones. Don’t think he noticed! 😛
Seeing that he likes the kebab that I made last week, I decided to make for him again for his morning break. This time I used the rye bread with cheese, pickle and Romania cherry tomato. There are some blackberries which I bought during our outing yesterday and also some navel orange wedges. Nothing fancy… I have yet to unpack my boxes so I can’t find my cookie cutters! 😛 Therefore, no kyaraben! 😆
That’s all for today…
