Know your plastics & its symbols

You may not believe it that I love keeping plastic boxes! Yes, every time I buy stuff that comes with plastic or glass packaging, very likely I will keep them after the content has been consumed. I even keep all those take away plastic containers as they are really good to be reused.

.

.

However, recently I discovered that not all the plastic containers or boxes that I have been keeping and reusing are good for reuse.

Take a look at the symbol on the box and you will know if they are safe to be reused for keeping food. Unless you are using them to store non food items, then it should be fine.

.

.

For the list of symbols and its meaning, check out this link.

Only those with the symbol from 5 to 7 are safe to be reused for food items.

So, the next time you want to use all those containers you get from take away food, make sure you check which number it has.

1st Rainbow Cake

I have been procrastinating for a long time since I saw it on a website looooong ago that I wanted to bake one. I was supposed to bake for my girl’s 2nd birthday but I was so sick from morning sickness that I have to postpone it. However, I made it a point that I will bake it for her 3rd birthday and here it is…

.

.

It was not that difficult to make but very time consuming as I have to bake 3 batches with 2 colors each time. Luckily I go for 6″ cake so I can fit 2 tins at one time.

My girl was so happy as she likes everything with colors. 😀

My newest toy

Since the new school term will start soon, I have every reason to equip myself with new gadget(s) so that I can come out with more ideas in preparing bentos right? 😆

And here is my latest addition…

.

.

Darrius loves to eat spring rolls and I hate to warm up my big oven just to bake a few pieces. With this air fryer, I can air-fried all his fried food in a jiffy with less oil… and taste crispier longer. Probably the extra oil will drip away so these spring rolls actually stayed crispy for a longer period as compared to those baked in conventional oven.

Now I must find a way to keep all these fried food fresh in his lunch box… do share with me if you know of any ways 🙂

Bento Fun #329 – Little Piggy Bun

It has been weeks since I last make any decent bento as Darrius is still on holiday. He will start the new term next Thursday and he has been looking forward to it. He said he misses his friends and his teachers 🙂

Just before the holiday I made some buns in the shape of pig and I decided to pack one for his bento…

.

.

The dough was pretty sticky so it was really tough to shape. It was a little out of shape actually but still looking like a pig so can pass! 😆

The bun was filled with red bean paste and I packed some fruits along for him. Some huge cherries which our relatives brought back from their cherry picking trip the previous day, an apricot and some plums. Another speedy bento!

Need to start planning his lunch box since he will be back to school next week! 🙂
