Bento Fun #346 – Funny Trio Bento

Was supposed to bake some breads yesterday but was too lazy so can’t think of anything to put into the kids lunch boxes. Remembering I have some fish cocktails in the freezer, some ideas came along… yes, the thought of those cute Ooglies came flushing back!

I was running so did not have time to cut the cocktails sausages into shapes so just used them as they are. Just have to dress them up with some cheese eyes and they are good to go! heheh And since there were no carbohydrate, I added a pear onigiri mixed with some furikaki.

The kids polished off everything except the lettuce…

Darrius even told me that all his teachers were excited to see his lunch box everyday as they were expecting to see something fun! 😆

Bento Fun #325 – Mini Sausage Buns Bento

I am way behind in my bento posting again! I did managed to do a few before Darrius’s term break but there was so much things that is happening that I do not have much time to sit and write!

Here is another bento which I made with those little sausage buns I baked a while back! Those are my first few batches of home made buns too!

The buns were a little out of shape as I was having some problems handling the dough as it was so sticky! These are the first of many batches of sausage buns I have made which was really amateur! 😆 The sausages were so tiny (as big as the index finger) that making the dough wrap around it is a problem.

Nevertheless, the kids finished everything I baked and these few were the remaining which I specially kept for Darrius’s bento. It was a speedy bento for sure! 🙂

Bento Fun #323 – Happy Peaches Bento & One Lovely Blog Award

I am slacking again! 🙄

Yes, the weather is wrecking havoc again since the first week of spring. I am getting backache… not sure if it is due to hay fever or because I did many loads of laundry the past few days! It was soooo-soooo hot on Monday and Tuesday! My linens took just 2 hours to dry!

Anyway, I have not been doing much bento lately and I have quite a few unposted too due to some Internet issues. 😛

This bento was made early last week…

Mixed the rice with some furikake to look like some peaches. Lots of fruits and German bockwurst cocktail sausages made into candies in the box but Darrius came to tell me he’ll prefer to have this instead…

Oh Dear! My boy has Aussiefied faster than I thought! He said all his mates only bring sandwiches in a ziplog bag for lunch and he wanted the same!! >o<

Well, good news for mommy is that mommy can sleep in for a few more minutes but bad news is, there won’t be much bento for a while until he is tired with bread & cheese or bread with butter and jam! 😆

And thanks to one of my readers, Dina, for presenting me with this lovely Award…

When a blog wins this award they must spread the love by:
Thanking and linking back to the person who nominated them, telling seven things about themselves, and nominating 15 other bloggers by commenting on their blogs to let them know.

So the seven things about me:

1. I love everything small and pretty… like bento and bento gadgets! 😛

2. I am very ambitious and always try to be a perfectionist but I am neither here nor there! How ambitious can I be when I am only a SAHM???? So much for being ambitious! 😛

3. I lived my life. Having said that, I am glad I did almost everything (bungy, flying a small jet & diving) I wanted to do before I got married and have kids… except one thing, I have not gone for free falling! Too much risks so I’ll do it when the time comes 🙂

4. I love spicy food but accommodate the kids, I hardly get to cook spicy food so I am trying to train them up now so we can have more spice in our meals!

5. I love to munch! I know this is dangerous but chips and nuts are so cheap here!!! Help me!

6. I have yet to lose the 10kg I gained from having kids!

7. I am so into bread making now! (That explained why I have been slacking!)

I hardly go blog hopping these days (so busy with kids and baking!) but I was inspired by some really good bentoists from Japan like Kaerenmama and a few more. Their simple and beautiful works has helped shaped my bento making journey.

Bento Fun #310 – Monkeying Around…

Hello again!

Hope all of you having a good week. The weather here has been superb but I heard about the awful storms up north in NSW and QLD which is pretty worrying. Just hope the storms will subside soon…

This week has been a little crazy as hubby started work in his new job. I have to wake up earlier to prepare bento for him to bring to work. It was madness as he also wanted hot breakfast so you can imagine how rush it can get each morning! I will try to pack the same stuff for both my boys but hubby prefers rice and noodles where else Darrius prefers lighter stuff… he will be happier if I pack him all those junk food! 😛

Finally, I went to rummage into some of my unopened boxes and took out some of my important bento gadgets. Still can’t find some of them (hubby opened and sealed back some a while back) so I just make do with what I have. With that, I took the opportunity to make a kyaraben today…

Bought a loaf of pumpkin seeds and a loaf of sunflower seeds rye bread over the weekend. Can’t find chocolate bread here unless I bake myself so was lucky the rye bread can be a substitute for a dark brown color.

So, it was a sunflower seeds rye bread sammy with cheese topped with the pumpkin seeds bread to make the monkey head. Details are nori punch outs. Added a few sections of pork sausage, a Roma tomato, some blueberries and strawberry to the box.

That’s all for today… hope you’ll have a fantastic day ahead!

Bento Fun #307 – Three Little Boys Bento

So fast it is already Thursday! Can’t wait for the weekend to come by… though we are not doing anything in particular but it is good to know that we don’t have to rush for school. Don’t you agree? 😀

This morning I fed Darrius a heavy breakfast so I only make him a regular bento which I hope he can finish! It seems that he preferred to play more than eating and come complaining when he reached him that he’s hungry! So, I told his class teacher yesterday that to make sure he finished up his food before letting him out of the classroom.

I found a packet of seaweed among my stash of stuff and so…

A kyaraben at last!

Bought a loaf of soy and linseed bread yesterday and surprisingly it is so soft! Therefore, an idea struck me to make him sausage rolls with the bread. All I did was just squeezed some mayo and put the sausage and roll it up and cut into 3 sections. With the puncher and seaweed… we have 3 little cute boys! They looked as if they are putting on hoods… don’t they??? 🙂

Beside the sausage rolls, I added some nectarine cubes and blueberries for Vit C. There is another sausage heart and a cherry tomato too. I hope he can finish everything today!
